A set of ten Thonet B9 / 209 bentwood and cane dining chairs in a beautiful dark red/maroon stain, imported by Stendig c. 1960s

The B9 chair was first produced in 1870, and was a favorite of the reknown Swiss architect and designer Le Corbusier, who remarked that the chair “possesses nobility”

In 1955 Charles Stendig formed “Stendig” and soon after became the exclusive U.S. importer for Thonet furniture, importing the B9 and 811 chairs directly from the Thonet factory in Czechoslovakia, which had not been exported Thonet furniture to the United States since before the war.
